The Kautz family
Michael Kautz Carpets & Designs developed from the family’s 5-Generations of carpet salesman dating back to Christian Kautz in the1900’s. Ray Kautz, a father of six boys opened Carpets by Ray & Sons, back in 1967, and taught them everything he knew to be successful in the carpet industry. Our Mount Prospect showroom opened in 1969 in addition to a second store opening in Buffalo Grove in 1977. In the years to follow the Kautz sons branched out on their own ventures and the Mount Prospect location name changed in 1980 to Michael Kautz Carpets & Designs.
The company is owned and operated by Michael Kautz Sr. along with his two Sons, Joe Kautz and Michael Kautz Jr. We pride ourselves on 50 years of experience in sales and installation of carpet and flooring materials for residential and commercial projects in the Chicagoland area.

Within the past eight years the company expanded to offering remodeling services in addition to material sales of kitchen and bathroom products. We offer carpet and flooring contractor services for commercial and residential, general contracting services for residential, carpet cleaning services, and most recently interior design services for kitchen and bath remodels.

The main point of contact when you call our office. A jack of all traits, Joanne handles everything from orders to ccount payments, to showroom assistance.
